Winter Jam 2010

March 18, 2010

Winter Jam 2010 was in Fort Wayne one week ago today. The difference for us was this year over years past it was a school night which hasn’t happened before. That’s okay because it was still an awesome night even if it was late! Because it was a rainy afternoon and evening, the Coliseum doors were opened early and the lines began to form inside, winding every which way.

Eventually, several bands throughout the night would take the stage. The response that I received for the top two bands for the evening were Third Day and Tenth Avenue North. Tony Nolan, the Pastor for the tour spoke and gave an invitation to accept Christ. Several responded to the given invitation.

The concert was great along with being able to hang out with friends.

2010 Global Impact Youth Conference (India Night)

March 12, 2010

Wednesday evening at Living Faith  saw our youth gather with Northside  and Northpoint  for the 2010 Global Impact Youth Conference. The night began with the youth pastors seeing how much they and their students knew about India as the different youth groups competed in India Trivia.

Following India Trivia, students from Huntington University led us in an amazing time of worship, preparing our hearts for the message by guest speaker Chaitanya Gera. Chaitanya is a pastor from India who has planted five-churches and travels 800 miles every week to preach the gospel. This night his message was on “Grace.”

Following Chaitanya’s challenging message, we went to the gym for Indian appetizers and an opportunity to talk to a representative from Huntington University and also a representative from TEAM Missions.

This was an amazing night we had to spend with friends, and a great time to make new friends as well as learn about Huntington University and TEAM Missions.

got respect?

February 25, 2010

Tonight we asked the question, “Do you got respect?” Okay, I know that’s bad English, but I think that it made the point. What we determined was that God commands us to respect others.

He wants us to respect…

  • our parents
“Honor your father and your mother” -Exodus 20:12
  • the elderly
“show respect for the elderly” -Leviticus 19:32
  • Himself
“The king is enthralled by your beauty, honor him, for he is your lord” -Psalm 45:11
  • our elders and deacons
“The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching.” -1 Timothy 5:17
  • one another
“Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.” -Romans 12:10
  • governmental authorities
“Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” -Romans 13:1

The question that I have to ask myself is, “How am I doing in each of these areas?” If I’m struggling with respect in any of these areas, I need to ask God to help me to do better, after all, He loves me and has my best interest in mind. Knowing this I believe He will help me to do what’s right in His eyes.

The bottom line is that God commands us to respect others.

Got respect?
